What do I do, Lord

when I’m feeling overwhelmed
by waves of work or worry –
without a moment to breathe
deeply enough to perceive
my need to pray?

I don’t want to keep sighing
or fixing my focus on
anything but you!

And yet, I do.

Forgive me, Father! Lift
me higher than this heaviness
and into a deep desire
of heavenly praise for You.

Praise God Who listens

when no one else will,
when no one else notices
our problem,
our pain,
or the terrible loneliness
that comes
in dark hours when only
our God Who listens
truly hears and responds.

Praise God your Lover

Who embraces you
like a blanket wrapped
around the chill of your life
and holds you –

insulated from evil,
protected from attack,
cloistered in comfort,
cocooned in Christ –

until, reassured,
you risk life again
and rise in the lift of God’s love.

Peace Prayer

The fruit of silence is prayer.
The fruit of prayer is faith.
The fruit of faith is love.
The fruit of love is service.
The fruit of service is peace.
– Mother Teresa

Renew My Mind, Body and Soul

Lord, I come before you today in need of your healing hand. In you all things are possible. Hold my heart within yours, and renew my mind, body, and soul.

I am lost, but I come to you with grace.

You gave us life, and you also give us the gift of infinite joy. Give me the strength to move forward on the path you’ve laid out for me. Guide me towards better health, and give me the wisdom to identify those you’ve placed around me to help me get better.

In your name I pray, Amen.

May I Be At Peace

May I be at peace.
May my heart remain open.
May I be aware of my true nature.
May I be healed.
May I be a source of healing to others.
May I dwell in the Breath of God.
 – Saint Teresa of Avila

A Prayer to Jesus for Healing

Dear Lord, You are the Just judge, Holy and True. You are the Most High God. You give us life. You hold all power in your hands.

You are the Mighty one from God who carries the world, and is ruler over all the earth. You Oh Most Blessed One are the giver of life. In you are only good things. In you is mercy and love. In you is healing of the nations. In you is freedom of worry and freedom of pain.

Lord Almighty, You loved us so much. You were sent from your Father, sent to save us from destruction. We truly can never make it to Heaven without the help of Jesus the Son, who was sent to earth to help us.

You, Lord are full of mercy and grace, please forgive us for our faults. Lord Jesus, in you all healing is performed. You Lord are the miracle worker. In your Spirit, your gift of healing is alive. In you Lord we can put our trust that you can heal us, and protect us from the enemy, and death of our soul.

You, Lord are miracle worker for the sick, and for the lost souls. You, Lord forgive us and save us from condemnation. You cleanse us and make us born again new. You give us a clean heart full of peace. You Lord are the Light.

In You is all truth. Your way Lord is the way to Heavenly Hope. Your hands Lord created the universe. You Lord are the True giver of Life. Every child is a miracle of Life. Life rests in Your Hands.

Wrap us as a close knit family, draw us near to you Lord, and bind us with your Loving Hands. Let us be drawn closer to You. You are the Vine, dear Lord and we are the branches. You carry all knowledge and all power. You Lord are our medicine. Your Words Lord are Truth and Life.

Help us put our trust in You. You Lord are the greatest physician. You heal, You protect, You care, You love, You are kind, You are patient, You are thoughtful, You are strength. You Lord are our Creator.

You know our thoughts, our sighings and our cryings and every hair on our head. You are Wonderful and make all good things for us. Heal us Lord, if it be Your will.

MAY he who created everything
keep the number of his chosen people, throughout the world,
up to the strength he fixed for them
through his dear Child, Jesus Christ.
Through him he called us from darkness to light,
from ignorance to knowledge
of the glory of his name.
We have confidence in you:
you were at the beginning of creation;
you have opened our inward eyes
to give us knowledge of you,
who alone are the Most High, in highest heaven,
the Holy One, at ease among the holy.

You curb the arrogance of the proud,
frustrate the designs of the Gentiles,
lift up the modest
and bring the mighty down,
give riches and poverty,
death and life.
You alone watch over the interests of spiritual beings,
you are the God of all flesh.
You gaze into the depths,
you watch what men are doing.
You are our help in danger,
you save the despairing,
Creator and Keeper of all that is spiritual.
You give increase to the peoples of the earth,
and from them all you chose us out to love you,
through Jesus Christ, your dear Child,
who brought us instruction, holiness and honour.

We beg you, Lord,
to help and defend us.
Deliver the oppressed, ‘
pity the insignificant,
raise the fallen,
show yourself to the needy,
heal the sick,
bring back those of your people who have gone astray,
feed the hungry,
lift up the weak,
take off the prisoners’ chains.
May every nation come to know
that you alone are God,
that Jesus Christ is your Child,
that we are your people, the sheep that you pasture.

You have shown by what you have made and done
how the world has been planned from eternity.
The earth is your creation, Lord,
yours that are true to every generation,
just when you judge,
your strength and splendour a marvel.
Such competence yours in creating,
such skill in setting firm the things you make,
your goodness apparent in this world to see.
You are loyal to those who trust you,
merciful, compassionate.
Forgive us our sins, our injustice,
Our falls, our jarring deeds.

Do not count every one
of your servants’ sins,
but cleanse us with the cleanness of your truth
and guide our steps in…inward holiness,
that so we may do what is just and pleasing’
to you and to our rulers.
Let us see your face, sovereign Master,
and we shall peacefully pursue what is good,
protected by your strong hand,
kept from all sin by your mighty arm,
preserved from those who hate us without cause.

Give concord and peace
to us and to all living on the earth,
as you gave them to our fathers
when they prayed to you, believing truly,
ready to obey the All Powerful, the All Holy.

To those who rule and lead us on the earth
you, sovereign Master,
have given their authority and kingship
—so marvellous that power of yours words fail to express—
that seeing the glory and honour
you have provided for them,
we should be subject to their rule,
not resisting your will.
Grant them, Lord,
the health, peace, concord and stability
to use aright
the sovereignty you have bestowed on them.
For you, King of heaven, Lord of the ages, you it is
that give to mortal men
glory, honour and power
over what is on the earth.
Lord, make their counsels conform to what is good
and pleasing to you,
that using with reverence,
peacefully, gently,
the power you have given them,
that they may find favour with you.

You alone have the means to do this for us,
this and more than this.
We thank you for it through Jesus Christ,
the High Priest, our souls’ Protector.
Glory and splendor be yours through him,
now at this moment,
in every generation,
age after age. Amen.

Pope St. Clement
The oldest Christian prayer, known outside scripture

Dear Father, I believe that Jesus Christ died on that cross to take away all of my hurt and sins.  God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day.  In the name of Jesus I transfer all of my hurt and sins to you Jesus, because you understand my pain from all the times I have been betrayed, rejected, physically/sexually/mentally or verbally abused, mocked, humiliated and abandoned.  I hand to you Jesus all the people who hurt me because they know not what they do.  I also release all of the negativity inside of me, to be transmuted in the light of God. All the anger, hatred, bitterness and resentments that are inside of me.  All the debts that they owe me I give it to you Lord.  These people owe me nothing because I forgive them totally, and as I forgive them Lord please forgive me for all of the things I have done.

I know that pride is an abomination to you, I renounce pride, rebellion, disobedience, stubbornness, selfishness, doing things my way, relying on my logic and strength, not admitting when I’m wrong, blaming you God for things that happened to me and complaining.  I humble myself just like a little child and ask for your forgiveness, deliverance, healing and protection in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

(adaption of a prayer for forgiveness)
